Background information:
Started in 1973 as Nexus Contemporary Art Center, the Contemporary began as an artist run cooperative and has blossomed into an "organizational model for contemporary art centers throughout the nation" (according to thier website) due to the excellent exhibitions, award-winning Nexus Press publications, outreach programs and the studio art program. Their art studio program awards space to artists through a juried competition. Artists in various stages of their careers work together to help and insipre each other with thier work. Studio Program juries are comprised of members of the Contemporary's community..

The Contemporary has partnered with IMAGE film and video center. Read about it here.

Nexus Press

Run under the umbrella of the Contemporary, the Nexus Press was founded in 1973 by a group of censored art students. When I visited their web site, it stated that all programming has been suspended until further notice.
The article below, talks about the relationship the Contemporary has begun with University of Georgia. It seems that plans are being formed to include the press in the schools printmaking program and the Press' archives would be taken by the schools library.
